Listen While You Browse: Persistent Luxury Bottom Dock, Multi-Topology Switching, and Seamless Audio Continuity Across the Entire DJAY Experience
Following our massive announcement unlocking over 35,000+ live worldwide radio broadcasts, we heard your feedback loud and clear: "The stations are incredible, but I want to keep listening while reading articles, exploring artist profiles, and browsing the directory!"
Today, we are thrilled to deliver the next major evolution of the DJAY.ca platform: Unbroken Continuous Audio Streaming & Persistent Luxury Docking. You can now tune into your favorite ambient soundscape, deep house groove, or worldwide broadcast, and explore every corner of DJAY.ca without the audio stream ever stopping, reloading, or buffering. Your music travels with you everywhere you go.
What's New in the Continuous Audio Experience?
Here is what makes listening on DJAY.ca smoother and more luxurious than ever:
- Persistent Luxury Bottom Bar (TuneIn & iHeartRadio Inspired): A custom-engineered audio dock pinned to the bottom of your browser window. Cloaked in our signature 25px Apex glassmorphic blur with luminous cyan-to-purple accents, the bottom dock displays live station artwork, title and marquee metadata, centered playback controls, an inline volume slider, and a slide-out directory drawer.
- Instant Multi-Topology Switcher:
Your listening space, your rules. Click the layout icon (⬒) on the dock bar to switch topologies in real time:
Your preferred layout is saved automatically to your device and synchronizes to your member account upon login.
- ⬒ Bottom Bar: Full-width luxury dock pinned along the bottom margin.
- ⬓ Top Bar: Pinned cleanly underneath header navigation.
- ◧ Left Sidebar: Dedicated vertical audio deck optimized for desktop widescreen monitors (>992px).
- ◳ Floating Bubble: A compact floating PIP bubble that can be shrunk down into an interactive 60px circular radio icon with 1-click restore.
- Zero-Interruption SPA Navigation: No more stream restarts when navigating between pages. Powered by our lightweight Vanilla SPA router, clicking internal links swaps page content instantly with soft glassmorphic crossfades while leaving the audio stream, station metadata, and playback buffer completely uninterrupted.
- Direct Card Playback ("Listen Live"):
We streamlined the Radio Hub (
/radio) by removing redundant hero audio widgets. Clicking "▶ Listen Live" on any curated station or global discovery card connects directly to your persistent dock bar with instant "Playing Now" indicators and pause toggles (⏸). - Sitewide Keyboard Media Keys & Lockscreen Sync: Full integration with OS lockscreen controls and physical keyboard media keys (Play, Pause, Track Skip) ensures you maintain total command of your audio even when DJAY.ca is running in a background browser tab.
Engineered for Pure Performance
Unlike bloated web applications that rely on massive third-party JavaScript frameworks, the DJAY.ca continuous audio engine is built with clean, standards-compliant web technologies:
- Zero-Dependency Lightweight Core: Powered by Core CMS v0.9.0, the SPA continuity engine weighs only ~6KB, adding virtually zero overhead to initial page loads.
- Unified Audio Singleton: A persistent audio instance preserves stream decoders and buffers across transitions, avoiding browser garbage collection pauses.
- Subpage Direct Landing Reliability: Hardened path routing ensures that whether you enter via the homepage, a direct station bookmark, or a blog post link, the persistent dock player initializes instantly.
