The Core CMS Era: DJAY.ca Migrates to a Unified Backend & Launches Radio Stream Player v0.1.0

A New Era for DJAY.ca: Migrating to Core CMS and Launching Radio Stream Player v0.1.0

The DJAY.ca ecosystem has taken a massive leap forward. We have officially completed the migration of DJAY.ca to our custom-built, lightweight Core CMS. This shifts the entire site off legacy configurations onto a unified, modular PHP/MySQL backend, opening up incredible possibilities for future integrations. Along with this backend migration, DJAY.ca is now running the latest version of our Radio Stream Player plugin (v0.1.0), delivering an optimized, seamless music streaming experience.

With this shift, we have established a solid technical core, allowing us to rapidly expand our radio platform and build out deep, interactive features with a robust database backing them.

Major Highlights / Updates

The transition to Core CMS and the launch of the Radio Stream Player plugin represent a complete restructuring of our digital radio platform:

  • 100% Core CMS Migration: The main website is now fully powered by Core CMS, eliminating legacy bloat and introducing clean routes, flexible menu management, and centralized options.
  • Radio Stream Player Plugin (v0.1.0): Deployed as a modular plugin rather than a standalone script, the player now hooks directly into the new Core CMS backend for database-driven station management and premium authentication gates.
  • Standalone Player at radio.djay.ca: The dedicated standalone radio experience is now live at radio.djay.ca, giving listeners a distraction-free environment to tune in.

Technical Deep Dive

Under the hood, this release binds two powerful systems together seamlessly:

  • Modular Plugin Integration: The Radio Stream Player now utilizes Core CMS hooks (admin_nav, site_head, and site_footer) to inject its frontend UI and JS engine dynamically without polluting core templates.
  • Zero Residue Teardown: In compliance with our Core CMS plugin policy, the Radio Stream Player supports a Deep Clean deactivation, cleanly dropping station tables and options if uninstalled.
  • Cloudflare Worker Proxying: Outsource heavy stream fetching and CORS metadata handling to Cloudflare Workers, keeping page loading fast and server load near zero.
  • Auth & Subscription Foundation: With Core CMS's user level and membership tier registry, we have set the groundwork for gating high-quality audio streams or specific stations to premium members in future updates.

Looking Ahead

Now that the backend is unified, we will focus on enhancing the Radio Stream Player with user favorites synchronization, real-time stream status diagnostics, and broader theme adaptability.

Experience the new unified site at djay.ca or open the standalone player directly at radio.djay.ca.

Until next time!
